Grounds Review- The Autoworld Arena (Home of Matlock Town FC)

The Autoworld Arena is located on Causeway Lane, Matlock, it faces Hall Leys Park and it is close to Matlock Cricket Club as well and it is 500 yards from the town centre. It has a total capacity of 2,757 (500 Seated) and has covered terracing and seating on all three sides of the ground. The Twigg stand and the clubhouse are to a very good standard and there is always 2 cask ales (Such as Sharp’s Doom Bar) and a good range of lagers and ales as well. The food in the tea bar is reasonably priced and the Burger with onions and chips was very nice and there was a wide range of hot foods and hot beverages for fans to enjoy. There are several nice views of Riber Castle and this lends itself to the feel and character of the ground, which i have to admit is among the best i have visited since my first non league match in August 2016

Match Report (Matlock Town FC vs Sutton Coldfield Town FC) (30th September 2017)

While it was a poor day weather wise in Matlock, it was one of the best performances i have personally seen from Matlock this season. Sutton Coldfield looked a shadow of the side that drew 3-3 against Matlock Town at Coles Lane in August, they were very poor for all of the match and barely created any chances. Matlock dominated the first 20 minutes and got their reward when in the 17th minute, Tyler Blake scored after a good period of build up play.

However Matlock created few other chances in the first half , while rarely being tested defensively. The second half was much improved performance wise and this showed when Matlock scored 2 minutes into the second half when Luis Rose cut in from the right and scored a marvelous goal to put Matlock in control of the match. Few clear cut chances were created until the 77th minute, when Matlock won a penalty which Michael Williams scored and in the 88th minute, Williams scored his second which was assisted by Adam Etches, who glided home a fifth goal for Matlock Town FC. This was a much needed performance after an inconsistent start to the season.

Final Score Matlock Town FC 5, Sutton Coldfield Town FC 0

(Scorers, Tyler Blake, Luis Rose, Michael Williams (2), Adam Etches)
